Iodine deficiency in pregnancy linked to child IQ

A study of three mother-child cohort studies (from the UK, Netherlands, Spain) has shown that child IQ is affected by mild-to-moderate iodine deficiency, particularly in the first trimester. The meta-analysis of individual-participant data showed that maternal iodine-to-creatinine ratio was associated with verbal IQ, particularly up to 14 weeks gestation.
